I'll give you an insight into different types of strategy within an agency setting and the key roles within them.After all, part of the key to good strategy is the team itself. We'll look at the differences between business, brand, digital and communications strategy and most critical, how they work together.
Empathy And The Strategy Problem
Good strategy starts with empathy and a deep understanding of the problem. We'll talk about problem definition, clarification and how it works. We'll also cover research for strategy and how to do it in this context with some problem definition tools I've used in my career. We'll wrap this massive module up with a section on goals, how to set them, why you need them and the role they play in good strategy.
Insight: The guiding policy
At some point, you're going to have to go out and learn something to inform your strategic development — insights are going to be some of the key influencers to your outcome. We'll go in depth on this topic and we'll create a framework for you to use them in your own freelance or agency setting.
Strategy In Action: The tactics
So often confused for strategy, tactics are the things you need to do to create a coherent and effective strategy. I'll run through the different types of tactics used in different startegy projects and how you can add to your tactical toolkit as a Strategist.
Implementation: The Strategy Development Roadmap
Some people will have you believe that strategy development is magic and you have to have a stable of unicorns to do it right. You don't and I'll talk you though a simple and logical way you can lay out your strategic thinking in a roadmap that makes sense. Implementation is where it can all unravel, so I'll talk through some things I do to ensure it doesn't.
